You can usually cancel ESPN+ by signing in to your ESPN account in a web browser, opening your Profile, going to Account, selecting Manage Subscription, choosing your plan under Plans & Billing, and selecting Cancel. ESPN says cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle.

One important wrinkle: ESPN+ has been folded into ESPN’s newer ESPN Select / ESPN Unlimited subscription language, but many people still search for it as ESPN+. If you subscribed through Apple, Google Play, Roku, Amazon, PayPal, Disney+, or Hulu, you may need to cancel through that billing provider instead of ESPN. ESPN notes that third-party billed subscriptions must be managed through that third party.

Before you cancel ESPN+

Before canceling, check who is billing you. This matters because deleting the ESPN app, logging out, or removing your ESPN account from a device usually does not stop billing.

Look for:

  • ESPN / Disney on your card statement

  • Apple.com/bill

  • Google Play

  • Roku

  • Amazon

  • PayPal

  • Hulu or Disney+ bundle billing

Also check:

  • Your renewal date

  • Whether you are on a monthly or annual plan

  • Whether ESPN+ is part of a Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN bundle

  • Whether access ends immediately or at the end of the billing period

  • Whether you received a cancellation confirmation

ESPN says you can cancel at any time, keep access until the end of the current billing cycle, and that it does not refund or credit partially used billing periods.

How to cancel ESPN+ on the ESPN website

Use this method if ESPN bills you directly.

  1. Go to ESPN.com in a computer or mobile browser.

  2. Sign in to your ESPN account.

  3. Select or hover over your Profile icon.

  4. Select Account under Manage My Account.

  5. Select Manage Subscription.

  6. Click your subscription under Plans & Billing.

  7. Choose the ESPN plan you want to cancel.

  8. Select Cancel.

  9. Confirm the cancellation.

Keep going until you see a cancellation confirmation or an “active until” / end-of-billing-cycle message. ESPN’s official cancellation page says cancellation is effective at the end of your billing cycle.

How to cancel ESPN+ on iPhone or iPad

Use this method if you subscribed through your Apple Account.

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap your name at the top.

  3. Tap Subscriptions.

  4. Select ESPN, ESPN+, or the related ESPN subscription.

  5. Tap Cancel Subscription.

  6. Confirm the cancellation.

Apple says that if there is no cancel button, or if you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already canceled.

How to cancel ESPN+ on Android through Google Play

Use this method if Google Play bills you.

  1. Open the Google Play Store.

  2. Tap your profile icon.

  3. Tap Payments & subscriptions.

  4. Tap Subscriptions.

  5. Select ESPN, ESPN+, or the related ESPN subscription.

  6. Tap Cancel subscription.

Use this method if Roku bills you.

On the Roku website

  1. Go to your Roku account.

  2. Sign in.

  3. Go to Manage your subscriptions.

  4. Find ESPN or ESPN+ under active subscriptions.

  5. Select Manage subscription.

  6. Choose Turn off auto-renew.

  7. Confirm.

Roku explains that turning off auto-renew cancels future billing, while access usually continues until the end of the current billing cycle.

How to cancel ESPN+ through Amazon or Fire TV

Use this method if you subscribed through Amazon Appstore or a Fire TV device.

  1. Sign in to your Amazon account.

  2. Go to your Appstore subscriptions.

  3. Find ESPN or ESPN+.

  4. Choose the option to manage the subscription.

  5. Turn off auto-renewal or cancel the subscription.

  6. Save the confirmation.

How to cancel ESPN+ if it is part of a Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN bundle

If ESPN+ is included in a Disney Bundle, you may not be able to cancel only the ESPN part by itself. You may need to manage the whole bundle through Disney+, Hulu, or the platform that bills you.

Disney says you can cancel a Disney+, bundle, or add-on subscription by signing in through a computer or mobile browser, selecting your profile, going to Account, choosing your subscription, and following the cancellation prompts.

Hulu also notes that if you are billed for a bundle plan by Disney, you can cancel the bundled subscription from your Disney+ account page.

Before canceling a bundle, check whether you will lose access to Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN together.

How to cancel ESPN+ through PayPal

Use this method if your ESPN charge is coming through a PayPal automatic payment.

  1. Sign in to PayPal.

  2. Go to Settings.

  3. Click Payments.

  4. Select Subscriptions and saved businesses or Automatic Payments.

  5. Choose the ESPN, Disney, Hulu, or related merchant.

  6. Cancel the automatic payment.

  7. Save the confirmation.

PayPal says automatic payments can be managed from the merchant page inside PayPal, including canceling the automatic payment.

Common ESPN+ cancellation roadblocks

“I do not see ESPN+ in my ESPN account”

That usually means ESPN is not the billing provider. Check Apple, Google Play, Roku, Amazon, PayPal, Disney+, or Hulu.

“I deleted the ESPN app but still got charged”

Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. You need to cancel through the billing provider.

“My card statement says Disney, not ESPN”

ESPN subscriptions and bundles may be managed through Disney accounts or Disney bundle billing. Check Disney+ account settings and any bundle details.

“I only want to cancel ESPN+, not Disney+ or Hulu”

If ESPN+ is part of a bundle, you may need to cancel the bundle and then resubscribe separately to the services you still want. Check your account before canceling so you do not accidentally remove access you wanted to keep.

“I canceled, but I still have access”

That can be normal. ESPN says canceled subscriptions generally remain available until the end of the current billing cycle.

How to confirm ESPN+ is actually canceled

Before you close the tab, confirm at least one of these:

  • Your ESPN account shows the subscription as canceled.

  • Your Apple or Google subscription page shows an expiration date.

  • Roku or Amazon shows auto-renew turned off.

  • PayPal no longer lists the automatic payment as active.

  • You received a cancellation email.

  • You saved a screenshot of the cancellation confirmation.

This is boring paperwork, but useful boring paperwork.

What to do if ESPN+ charges you after cancellation

  1. Check the charge description on your card statement.

  2. Search your email for “ESPN,” “Disney,” “Hulu,” “Apple,” “Google Play,” “Roku,” “Amazon,” and “PayPal.”

  3. Confirm whether you canceled the subscription or only deleted the app.

  4. Check every billing provider tied to your account.

  5. Contact ESPN support if ESPN billed you directly.

  6. Contact Apple, Google, Roku, Amazon, PayPal, Disney+, or Hulu if they processed the payment.

  7. Request a refund if appropriate, but do not assume one is guaranteed.

  8. Save screenshots, emails, and chat transcripts.

  9. Consider disputing with your card provider only after reasonable direct attempts, unless the charge is clearly unauthorized.

ESPN lists live support by phone at 1-888-549-ESPN (3776), available from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. ET, seven days a week.

The Not-Subscribed note

ESPN+ is a classic example of app-store billing confusion mixed with negative option billing: the subscription keeps renewing unless you cancel, but the correct cancel button depends on where you originally subscribed.

That is why the first question is not “Where is ESPN’s cancel button?” It is “Who is billing me?” Once you know that, the cancellation path gets much less mysterious.

Cancel smarter. Subscribe slower.
