How to cancel Amazon Prime Video Channels and check who bills you.

Quick answer

You can cancel Amazon Prime Video Channels by going to your Prime Video Account & Settings, opening Your subscriptions, finding the add-on channel you want to cancel, selecting Unsubscribe, and confirming. Amazon’s Prime Video help page says Prime Video add-on subscriptions can be canceled online from Account & Settings → Your subscriptions.

This is for add-on channels like Paramount+, STARZ, MGM+, BritBox, PBS Masterpiece, AMC+, and similar subscriptions purchased through Prime Video.

Canceling a Prime Video Channel is not the same thing as canceling Amazon Prime.

Before you cancel Amazon Prime Video Channels

First, check what you are actually paying for. Amazon has several different subscription types that sound similar but cancel in different places.

You might have:

What you haveWhat it means

Amazon Prime→The full Prime membership with shipping, Prime Video, and other benefits

Prime Video-only subscription→ Prime Video without the full Prime membership

Prime Video Channel→ A paid add-on channel inside Prime Video, like STARZ or Paramount+

Amazon Appstore subscription→ A subscription purchased through an app on Fire TV or another Amazon device

Standalone streaming app subscription→ A subscription billed directly by that service, not Amazon

Amazon says regular Amazon subscriptions can be managed from Your Memberships and Subscriptions, while Prime Video add-ons are managed from the Prime Video subscriptions area.

Before canceling, check:

  • The channel name

  • The renewal date

  • Whether Amazon is the billing provider

  • Whether the subscription is a Prime Video Channel or a standalone app

  • Whether canceling the channel affects only that channel or a larger membership

How to cancel a Prime Video Channel on the website

Use this path for channels billed through Prime Video.

  1. Go to Prime Video.

  2. Sign in to the Amazon account that is being billed.

  3. Open Account & Settings.

  4. Select Your subscriptions from the top menu.

  5. Find the add-on channel you want to cancel.

  6. Select Unsubscribe.

  7. Confirm the cancellation.

Amazon’s help page gives the same core path: go to Account & Settings, choose Your subscriptions, find the add-on, then select Unsubscribe and confirm.

Do not stop after opening the channel page. Keep going until Amazon confirms the subscription has been canceled or will not renew.

How to cancel from Amazon Memberships and Subscriptions

Some users find their channel or streaming subscription from Amazon’s main subscription dashboard instead.

  1. Go to Amazon.

  2. Sign in.

  3. Open Account & Lists.

  4. Select Memberships & Subscriptions.

  5. Look for the channel or streaming subscription.

  6. Select the management option.

  7. Choose the cancellation or turn-off auto-renewal option.

  8. Confirm.

Amazon says Your Memberships and Subscriptions lets you view active, canceled, and expired subscriptions.

If you do not see the channel there, check Prime Video Account & Settings → Your subscriptions.

How to cancel Amazon Prime Video Channels on a phone

You may be able to start from a phone browser, but the Prime Video or Amazon shopping app may not always make the cancellation path obvious.

The safest path:

  1. Open a browser on your phone.

  2. Go to Prime Video or Amazon.

  3. Sign in to the Amazon account that is being charged.

  4. Go to Account & Settings.

  5. Open Your subscriptions.

  6. Find the channel.

  7. Select Unsubscribe.

  8. Confirm.

If the mobile page is hard to use, switch to a desktop browser. Subscription settings are often easier to find there.

How to cancel if you subscribed on Fire TV

This is a common confusion point.

Buying or watching a channel on Fire TV does not always mean the cancel button is inside the Fire TV app. The subscription may be managed through your Amazon account online.

Try this first:

  1. Go to Amazon or Prime Video in a browser.

  2. Sign in to the same Amazon account used on the Fire TV.

  3. Open Account & Settings.

  4. Go to Your subscriptions.

  5. Find the channel.

  6. Select Unsubscribe.

  7. Confirm.

If it is an Amazon Appstore subscription instead of a Prime Video Channel, Amazon says Appstore subscriptions can be managed from the Amazon Appstore subscriptions page, where users can change, update, cancel, or turn off auto-renewal.

How to cancel a Prime Video-only subscription

This is different from canceling a channel.

If you pay only for Prime Video, Amazon says you can cancel by going to Account & Settings, selecting the Your Account tab, and choosing End Subscription for a Prime Video-only subscription. If Prime Video is included with Amazon Prime, Amazon says you need to manage the Prime membership instead.

Use this path if you are trying to cancel Prime Video itself, not just an add-on channel.

How to cancel Amazon Prime

Canceling a Prime Video Channel does not cancel Amazon Prime.

If your goal is to cancel the full Prime membership, you need to manage your Prime membership separately. Amazon’s Prime Video help page says that when Prime Video is included with Amazon Prime, users should select the Prime membership option and edit it on Amazon.

Be careful here. Canceling Prime may affect:

  • Prime shipping

  • Prime Video access

  • Prime Reading

  • Amazon Photos benefits

  • Prime Gaming

  • Other Prime-linked benefits

If you only want to stop paying for a channel like STARZ, Paramount+, MGM+, or BritBox, cancel the channel instead of the full Prime membership.

Common Amazon Prime Video Channel roadblocks

“I canceled Amazon Prime, but I still see a channel charge”

You may have canceled the full Prime membership or changed a Prime setting, but not canceled the separate channel subscription. Check Prime Video Your subscriptions and Amazon Memberships & Subscriptions.

“I canceled a channel, but I can still watch it”

That may be normal. Many streaming add-ons continue until the end of the current billing period after cancellation.

“I subscribed to Paramount+ through Amazon, but Paramount+ says it can’t cancel it”

That usually means Amazon is the billing provider. The service you watch may not control the subscription if Amazon sold the channel.

“I cannot find the channel in Prime Video”

Make sure you are signed in to the correct Amazon account. Many households have more than one Amazon login, and the Fire TV may be connected to a different account than the one you usually use.

“I see the app on Fire TV, but not in Prime Video Channels”

You may have an Amazon Appstore subscription or a standalone subscription inside the app, not a Prime Video Channel. Check Amazon Appstore subscriptions, the streaming service’s own account, and your card statement.

“Amazon shows multiple subscriptions”

Look closely at the names. You may have both a Prime membership and a channel add-on, or a Prime Video-only subscription plus a channel.

How to confirm the channel is canceled

Before closing the page, check for proof.

Look for:

  • A confirmation email from Amazon

  • The channel showing as canceled

  • A message that access ends on a specific date

  • The renewal date removed or changed

  • The subscription listed as expired or canceled in Amazon

  • A screenshot of the confirmation page

Save the proof. A screenshot is boring until you need it.

What to do if Amazon charges you after cancellation

  1. Check the exact charge name on your card statement.

  2. Sign in to the Amazon account that matches the charge.

  3. Check Prime Video → Account & Settings → Your subscriptions.

  4. Check Amazon → Memberships & Subscriptions.

  5. Check whether the charge is for Amazon Prime, Prime Video-only, a Prime Video Channel, or an Appstore subscription.

  6. Search your email for “Amazon,” “Prime Video,” “subscription,” “renewal,” the channel name, and “receipt.”

  7. Make sure another household Amazon account is not being billed.

  8. Contact Amazon support with the charge date, amount, subscription name, and last four digits of the card.

  9. Ask whether the charge is eligible for a refund.

  10. Contact your card provider if the charge appears unauthorized or Amazon cannot resolve it.

Avoid disputing a charge before checking the billing path unless it looks clearly unauthorized. Sometimes the “mystery” charge is a channel hiding under a different Amazon subscription menu.

The Not-Subscribed note

Amazon Prime Video Channels are a good example of billing-provider confusion. You may think you are subscribed to STARZ, Paramount+, MGM+, BritBox, or another streaming service directly, but Amazon may be the company billing you.

That means the cancel button may not be inside the streaming app. It may be in Amazon’s Prime Video subscription settings.

Before canceling any streaming subscription, ask: Who bills me? The answer usually tells you where the real cancel button lives.
